Christmas is that time of the year when the streets are full of people frantically trying to find the perfect gift for their loved ones. Sharing the joy and helping those less fortunate is what defines this wonderful time of the year.
Below you can find outlines from our first official Christmas campaign in 2014; when we shared smiles to a few disadvantaged children in our community.
The wrong medical treatment was applied to her when she was 4, thus leaving her with a paralysis on her left side of the body.
As a result, Oana was unable to attend school. With help from local teachers she learned to write and read.
Recently, Oana suffered another intervention, in the hope that it will improve her state. Her mom receives an aid companion salary, while her father works in a warehouse.
Oana’s case is familiar to us, as we managed to bring a smile on her face for Christmas last year.
She is studying locally, in her third school year. She is a very ambitious and dedicated young girl, being one of the top students in her class.
What makes her special? Her family is going through rough times at the moment, surviving on a very little income. Her brother, of 4 years old, was diagnosed with an incurable kidney disease when he was 2. In the past few months, the sickness evolved. At the moment, he requires hospitalisation for a certain number of days each month. The majority of the parents’ revenue is spent on his healthcare, thus leaving the family with very little money to survive. The parents and the 3 children (Andreea, her brother and their 2 year old sister) live in a rented room in Suceava.
The village Berchisesti, placed in Suceava county is such a place, where 50 % of the population are classified as social cases, with a very low (way under average) income.
With the help of the local priest, father Florin Dura,
Te Aud Romania managed to bring a smile in this community even before the foundation was operational. Christmas time represents happiness and joy especially for children.
Our organisation wants to be close to these children, by preparing fruit baskets and school materials.
